Message From Director
Woodland Institute of Nursing was established in 2006 with a mandate to produce a cadre of nursing leaders at the clinical, administrative and academic levels.
Our foremost challenge in health care today is the shortage of qualified nurses in both clinical practice and nursing education. To overcome this challenge Woodland Institute of Nursing had started with a GNM program for students desirous of developing skills and competency in nursing. In a span of 4 years the Basic B.Sc. and Post Basic B.Sc Nursing programs were opened in the newly constructed building at the Laitkor Campus. Over a period of 6 years, we have about 300 students who have graduated from the Institute in various programs and working in different areas of Health Organization.
The objective of our Institute is to prepare efficient nurses to function in interprofessional healthcare teams to meet the needs of increasing patient populations. Nurses must have a strong theoretical and scientific basis for the practice of nursing, thus the Institute curriculum is grounded in science as well as the art of nursing.
The Woodland Institute of Nursing faculty, staff and students are dedicated to providing leadership in meeting the challenges and opportunities facing the nursing care needs of Meghalaya and the nation. I invite you to explore the opportunities we have to offer, and to join us in the education and development of future nursing leaders.
